Frequently Asked Questions
-
Small and growing nonprofits finding their footing and established mid-sized organizations managing real complexity. What they share is an ED balancing multiple strategic priorities, the team is tapped, and there is a growing sense that marketing decisions deserve more discipline than capacity currently allows.
-
Not typically. I strengthen their direction, clarify priorities, and provide senior strategic leadership, so staff and agencies can execute more effectively. When a skills gap or capacity constraint requires it, I take a more hands-on role
-
Most of my work falls into three areas: ongoing fractional marketing leadership for the ED and senior team; brand and mission narrative development; and fundraising campaign strategy, storytelling, and messaging support.
-
Most begin with a discovery period to understand your goals, current strategy, internal capacity, and budget. From there, we define a clear scope of work, including timelines, deliverables, and decision points, before moving into strategy and execution.
-
Often, that’s exactly how it works. I partner directly with development, communications, and program leads to bring structure and direction, so their work is better aligned and more effective.
-
My primary focus is strategy, narrative, story development, and message direction. In many projects, I also lead or closely guide key campaign messages and case-for-support language, then collaborate with your team or external partners on execution. In certain cases, I serve as strategic lead, creative director, and lead writer, partnering with my design and web development team on full campaign execution.
-
Agencies are typically best at execution. My role is to ensure strategy and narrative are sound before you commit significant time and budget to producing anything. I work as a strategic partner to leadership, focused on decisions, positioning, and priorities rather than production volume.
-
I work with nonprofits across the United States. Most engagements run through remote collaboration: video calls, shared documents, and scheduled check-ins, with in-person sessions available when the work calls for it.
-
It’s a focused, no-obligation conversation about what is at stake for your organization, where uncertainty is showing up in marketing or fundraising, and whether my work is a good fit. Come with a real situation. Leave with a clearer sense of what to do about it.
